Summary One Due 1/15

Weekend: Become familiar with the syllabus.   Read Part I of Bookmarks (Ruskiewicz and Walker 1-43) before you begin Research One. 

Week Two: Prospectus and Critical Thinking

Monday 1/14: Discussion of research topics with Classmates.  In class summary comparision.

Tuesday 1/15: . Research Two Discussion: Research Plan

Wednesday 1/16: In Class Research Practicum. 

Thursday 1/17:  Prospectus Overview  Rough Draft Due; Discussion of Prospectus Research Plan with Classmates

Summary Two Due 1/24  Last Day to Withdraw without a W is 1/18

Weekend: Read Part Two of Bookmarks (Ruszkiewicz and Walker 44-87)  before you begin Research Two   

Week Three: Comparison and Synthesis

Wednesday  1/23: Comparison/Contrast Lecture:  Discussion of Synthesis Paper.

Thursday 1/24: Research Two Discussion:  Summary Two Due! 

Read Section 58 of the LBH about MLA documentation  Review of summarizing and paraphrasing (see Chapter 13 of Bookmarks)

Week Four: Documentation and Bibliographic Style

Monday 1/28:  Research Two Rough Draft Session:  Research Plan: Due 1/30 Synthesis Research

Tuesday 1/29: Discussion of Bibliographic Format and Works Cited

Wednesday 1/30: Bibliographic Format Workshop; Annotated and Working Bibliography Lecture.

Thursday 1/31:  In-text Documentation, Author Attribution and Note Cards;  Synthesis Outline due 2/4

Read chapter 8  "Keeping Track of Information" in Bookmarks  (Ruszkiewicz and Walker 88-92).  Read Chapter 9 of Bookmarks on Academic Responsibility and Intellectual Property  (Ruszkiewicz and Walker 100-107) as you prepare to take notes. 

Week Five: Evaluating Sources and Refining the Claim
