Mon IMPORTANT FIRST DAY ACTIVITIES:

1. Logon to BlackBoard and complete the ** MANDATORY FIRST-DAY CLASS ORIENTATION ** due by 11:59 pm Mon. June 30th.

     Don't neglect the last step which is to post your INTRODUCTORY BIOGRAPHY to the "Introductory Bios" discussion board.
    For more detailed steps including a brief overview of the class requirements, see Class Orientation Information.

    IMPORTANT FIRST DAY DEADLINE:
    You must logon to Blackboard and complete the "mandatory first-day class orientation"
    (including posting your "introductory bio") by the deadline.  Failure to do so may result
    in your being withdrawn from the class or replaced by a waitlisted student.

2. In Blackboard, go to the "student lounge" discussion board and post a quick message to the "check-in day 1" thread.

    IMPORTANT FIRST WEEK ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT:
    You must post a message to the daily "check-in" thread every day during the first 5 days (M-F) of the quarter.
    Failure to do so may result in your being withdrawn from the class under
Clark's first week attendance policy

Topic: Factoring - GCF and Grouping
Read: Lecture Notes - Factoring Polynomials
Read: You are expected to already know how to graph a function and find it's x-intercept point(s) as well as graph two linear functions and find their intersection point. MyMathLab activities: SECTION 6.1
   Watch any video lecture(s) if provided in MyMathLab (a.k.a. MML).
   Read the online multimedia textbook. As you read the text, work any You Try Its.
   (Specific directions are available on the "announcements" page inside your MyMathLab course.)
   Work at least every other problem listed in the tracked tutorial exercises (a.k.a. TTEs).
   (Read Daily Practice Problems for more information about TTEs.)

Examination:
Take Quiz #1 (covers 6.1-6.3  -- due NOON THURSDAY (Linked from "Quizzes & Exams" in MyMathLab by noon Tuesday.)

QUIZ RULES: Twice each week a quiz will be made available in MyMathLab. The first will be available noon Tuesday through noon Thursday and the second available noon Thursday through noon Saturday (with a slight change in dates in week 5 so as to accommodate the final exam). You may take each quiz twice and only your best score for that quiz will count. Also, of the 10 quizzes only your best 8 will count. You may start each quiz anytime during its 48-hour window, but once you start the quiz you only have 45 minutes to complete it and you must submit the completed quiz by its noon deadline. Do not navigate away from the quiz window or you will get locked out! You may use notes, online text, calculator, etc., but you may not discuss the quiz with any human until after the due date/time. After the due date/time you will be able to review your quiz and print it including the correct answers. See the "announcements" in your MML class for more details about this particular quiz.
