1. Logon to BlackBoard and complete the ** MANDATORY FIRST-DAY CLASS ORIENTATION ** due by 11:59 pm Mon. Sept. 21st.

     Don't neglect the last step which is to post your INTRODUCTORY BIOGRAPHY to the "Introductory Bios" discussion board.

    IMPORTANT FIRST DAY DEADLINE:
    You must logon to Blackboard and complete the "mandatory first-day class orientation"
    (including posting your "introductory bio") by the deadline.  Failure to do so may result
    in your being withdrawn from the class or replaced by a waitlisted student.

2. In Blackboard, go to the "student lounge" discussion board and post a quick message to the "check-in day 1" thread.

    IMPORTANT FIRST WEEK ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT:
    You must post a message to the daily "check-in" thread every day during the first 5 days (M-F) of the quarter.
    Failure to do so may result in your being withdrawn from the class under Clark's first week attendance policy.

3. Purchase (if necessary) and register in MyMathLab. See Syllabus - course materials for MyMathLab Course ID Code and further details.

4. Need a financial aid form signed / email sent? See FAQ - financial aid attendance form.

Topic: The Real Number System and Calculators
Read: Lecture Notes - Real Number System and Calculator and Calculator Guide - Basic Arithmetic (Note: MOL sites are password protected.)

MyMathLab activities: SECTION 1.3 (Note: Sections 1.1-1.2 are review from Pre-Algebra. Skim as needed.)
   Watch any video lecture(s) if provided.
   Read the online multimedia textbook. As you read the text, work any You Try Its.
   (Specific directions are available on the "announcements" page inside your MyMathLab course.)
   Work at least every other problem listed in the tracked tutorial exercises (a.k.a. TTEs).
   (Read Daily Practice Problems for more information about TTEs.)

   Make sure that BB has your correct email address in COURSE TOOLS / PERSONAL INFORMATION.
   Read any new "announcements" and all new discussion board posts.
   Participate on the "main classroom" discussion board for CPRs.

   ATTENDANCE, ONLINE PRESENCE, AND CLASS PARTICIPATION ARE NOT THE SAME!
   Read the discussion boards and catch up on the messages at least 3 times a week throughout the course.
   Actively participate on the "main classroom" discussion board regularly. See attendance / online presence.
   Satisfy the CPRs = Class Participation Requirements on the "main classroom" board each week.

   Participate on the "main classroom" discussion board for CPRs.
   (Optional) Do: Worksheet 1 (in "course mats / worksheets") and discuss in the "worksheet thread" on the "main classroom" board.

QUIZ RULES: Each week a quiz will be made available in MML by noon Thursday and must be submitted by noon Saturday. You may start it any time during that period but once you start the quiz you only have 45 minutes to complete it. You may only take the quiz once. Do not navigate away from the quiz window or you will get locked out! You may use notes, online text, calculator, etc., but you may not discuss the quiz with any human until after the due date/time. After the due date/time you will be able to review your quiz and print it including the correct answers. See the "announcements" in your MML class for more details about this particular quiz.
