FIRST DAY LOGIN REQUIREMENT:

     Go to class in MoodleRooms on Monday September 26th!

    On the first day of the term you must logon to MoodleRooms and enter your math class, read the
    "Start Here" directions posted there, and complete all the "Start Here" requirements by their deadlines.

    Login to MR on both day one and day two per the class attendance policy. Be active in class starting on day #1!

MYMATHLAB, GMAIL, AND OTHER TECHNICAL STUFF:

1. Purchase (if necessary) and register in MyMathLab.
The MyMathLab Course ID Code is in red bold font near the bottom of the Math 093 Class Syllabus along with enrollment details.

2. Activate your Clark Student Gmail account. See FAQs - Gmail account activation and "forwarding" directions.
Note: This is the ONLY address to which Prof. Keely will respond or send email messages.

3. Update your software (Java and Adobe Acrobat Reader). See FAQs - required software.

4. Download/print the Due Dates Chart (10-week) which lists all test and participation deadlines.

Topic: Review of Algebra II

Information about Graphing & Graphers:
You will need an electronic grapher (free online grapher, graphing software, or handheld graphing calculator) for this class.

Where can I find a free scientific calculator for my computer?

Where can I find a free online grapher or graphing software for my computer?

You are expected to already know how to electronically graph a function and find it's x-intercept point(s) as well as graph two linear functions and find their intersection point. For a graphing calculator refresher see Calculator Guide - Basic Arithmetic and Calculator Guide - Introduction to Graphing.

TI-84 users will find Prof. Milner's TI-84 Calculator Tutorial Videos useful.

MyMathLab activities:

Review FACTORING (SECTIONS 6.1-6.6) & RATIONALS (SECTS 7.1-7.7) in the MML e-textbook. (Note: These sections are review from Algebra II. Skim as needed.)

What to do in MyMathLab:
Login to your math class in MyMathLab (MML), click the e-textbook, click the chapter then section, watch the video lecture, read the multimedia textbook, and work the tracked tutorial exercises (TTEs) for practice. [See FAQs - e-textbook and FAQs - tracked tutorial excercises.]

MoodleRooms activities:

New to MoodleRooms (MR) and need a tutorial? See Clark eLearning's Moodle Orientation.

PARTICIPATE ON THE WEEKLY DISCUSSION BOARD REGULARLY! Your goal throughout the class should be to read and contribute substantively to the threads on the weekly discussion board (DB#) at least every other day.

Examination:
Take Quiz #1 (covers section 10.1 + chapters 6-7) -- submit by 9:00 pm SATURDAY (see "Quizzes & Exams" in MyMathLab.)

QUIZ INFO: Each week a quiz will be held in MyMathLab available noon Thursday through 9:00 pm Saturday (except slightly different days in week 10). You may take each quiz twice (possibly different questions) and only your best score for that quiz will count. Also, of the 10 quizzes only your best 8 will count. You may start the quiz anytime during its 57-hour window, but once you start it you only have 45 minutes to complete it and you must submit the completed quiz by its 9 pm deadline. Do not navigate away from the quiz window or you will get locked out! You may use notes, the e-textbook, a calculator, etc., but you may not discuss the quiz with any human until after the due date/time. After the due date/time you will be able to review your quiz and see the correct answers.
