Heavily reinforced with "realia"; Columbian Newspaper (delivered once a week – teacher request); driver training manual, loan and job applications, WA state accident report form, notices from local schools/school districts, prescription instructions, state/city maps, telephone books, etc.

Comments: night classes with 6 instead of 12 hours will only cover ˝ what is covered in the day. It usually takes a student 2 quarters (minimum) to cover level 4 competencies.

English Works which is a text/video series is excellent for teaching students to manage conversations about safety, following and understanding instructions, having small talk, reading a job ad and applying/interviewing for a job.
