Online Math Class Orientation Info

ONLINE MATH ORIENTATIONS ANNUAL SCHEDULE MATH DEPT ELEARNING DEPT

On or before the FIRST DAY of your online mathematics class read this
orientation information and follow the links to your class orientation page!

How do I get started in an online mathematics class?
  1. Read your instructor's class orientation page linked below.

  2. On the FIRST DAY of the quarter login to your online math class in Blackboard, complete any first-day assignments your instructor has posted there, and read your class syllabus!

I'm waitlisted, what should I do?

Keep in email contact with your instructor (email addresses here). Check your "waitlist status" at least daily at www.clark.edu/admissions_fin_aid/registration/waitlist.php. If you do get added to class then you will have access to Blackboard a few hours later. Once you do, login to Blackboard (clark.blackboard.com) and catch up on any first week orientation, requirements, and assignments. Good luck!

Note: Some instructors have specific waitlist information on their orientation pages linked below.

I'm new to online mathematics classes. Any helpful tips?

bullet Deciding if online is a good choice for you? See Is eLearning Right for You.
bulletNew to the Blackboard system? See eLearning's Student "Getting Started" Guide.
bullet How to Succeed Online provides tips for being successful in an online class.

The #1 tip for success: be active in your Blackboard class every day starting on day #1!

Can you give me some general information about online mathematics classes?

All online mathematics classes at Clark are conducted in Blackboard. Most classes require you to participate regularly in the class discussion board, submit assignments/tests electronically, and have access to an online textbook that provides video lectures and interactive tutorial exercises.

Where can I learn more about my specific class?

Read your class syllabus for details! Your instructor will have it available for you inside Blackboard and perhaps linked from their class orientation page below.
