Directions for making your PowerPoint Presentations

To Make a PowerPoint Presentation using the older, PowerPoint93-97:

 
bulletOpen the PowerPoint program. (Click on all programs, then on Microsoft Office, then on PowerPoint)
bulletClick on File, then New
bulletLook on the right side of the page and find "From AutoContent Wizard" - click on this.
bulletClick on the box that says "next" several times, until it says finish, or just click on finish.
bulletFollow the Directions on the screen. Click inside the box to write whatever you want to write.
bulletWhen you are finished with one slide, look on the left side, and click on the number that follows.
bulletContinue to follow directions on the screen until you finish your project.
bulletSave it on a disk. You won't be able to use the lab computers because everything gets erased when we turn the computer off.
bulletIf you want to change colors, background, look on the top bar, on the right and find "design." Click on that and many different little boxes will appear on the right side of the screen. Choose the one you want and click on it. That will change all of your slides to the new look.
 
 
To Add Pictures using the older, PowerPoint 93-97:
 
bulletChoose the picture you want to use - make sure that it is not too small, or it will be difficult for people to see it well.
bulletSave it in a place that you can easily find it later.
bulletIn the correct slide in your presentation, click insert, then picture, then from file.
bulletLook in the place where you saved the picture, find it, and click on it. Then click "insert" and your picture will show in your slide.
bulletIf your picture is too big or too small, click on it once and look for dots around it. Put the cursor in one corner of the picture and when it (the cursor) is shaped like an arrow. move it towards the middle of the slide to make it smaller, or towards the edges of the page to make it bigger. Stop when the picture is the correct size.
bulletIf you want to move the picture to another place, just right click on it and drag it to wherever you want to put it.
bulletSave your work.
 
 
To Add Sounds  using the older, PowerPoint 93-97:
 
bulletChoose the music you want to use. Be sure that it is an MP3 file, or a file that the PowerPoint program can read.
bullet Save it in the same disk or in the same thumb drive where you are saving your presentation. You will need to have that file at the time you want to make your presentation.
bulletIn the correct place in your presentation, click insert, then movies and sounds, then sounds from file.
bulletA little box will appear asking if you want the music to start at the same time that the presentation start. Click "no" - this will allow you to click on the music at the correct time you need it.
bulletSave your work.
 
 
To Add a Link to a Website using the older, PowerPoint 93-97:
 
bulletHighlight the word or picture that you want to use. (When you are finished, it will be underlined, so you can click on it.)
bulletRight click on it, and choose "hyperlink".
bulletA box will appear. Look on the top of it, towards the right. There is a little globe there. Click on it.
bulletYour search page (Google, for example) will appear on the screen. Find the site you want to use, in the same way as you usually find sites.
bulletWhen you find it, look at the bottom of the screen and click on your PowerPoint presentation. The little box will appear again, and the website you wanted to use is already written in the correct place.
bulletClick ok and you are done.

 

 

 

To Make a PowerPoint Presentation using the new version, 2007

 

 
bulletOpen the PowerPoint program. (Click on all programs, then on Microsoft Office, then on PowerPoint)
bulletClick on the round Microsoft symbol on the top left, then click on "New"
bulletOn the top of the page, click on "Search Microsoft online for a template" and then type the word "general" there. Click on the arrow in front of it.
bulletClick on the download button at the bottom right of the page that has opened.
bulletFollow the Directions on the screen. Click inside the box to write whatever you want to write.
bulletWhen you are finished with one slide, look on the left side, and click on the number that follows.
bulletContinue to follow directions on the screen until you finish your project.
bulletSave it on a disk. You won't be able to use the lab computers because everything gets erased when we turn the computer off.

bulletSave it in a place that you can easily find it later.
bulletIn the correct slide in your presentation,  click insert , then click on the little picture (these are on the top bar, on the left side)
bulletFind your picture when the program opens your pictures file, then double click on the one you want to use.
bulletIf you want to change the size of the picture, look on the top bar for the words "Picture tools". Click on that, and on the right side - there is a box labeled size. Choose the size you want by clicking on the up or the down arrow.
bulletIf you want to move the picture to another place, just right click on it and drag it to wherever you want to put it.
 
 
 
To Add Pictures using the new version, 2007:
 
bulletChoose the music you want to use. Be sure that it is an MP3 file, or a file that the PowerPoint program can read.
bullet Save it in the same disk or in the same thumb drive where you are saving your presentation. You will need to have that file at the time you want to make your presentation.
bulletIn the correct slide in your presentation, click insert, then sounds, then a box will open and you can choose "sounds from file".
bulletA little box will appear asking if you want the music to start in the slide show. Click "when clicked" - this will allow you to click on the music at the correct time you need it.
bulletSave your work.
 
 
To Add a Link to a Website using the new version, 2007:
 
bulletHighlight the word or picture that you want to use. (When you are finished, it will be underlined, so you can click on it.)
bulletRight click on it, and choose "hyperlink".
