Class assignments are broken down into the following:

Week One Assignments (50 points): Within the Blackboard Program, update your email address (4 points), perform the Syllabus Quiz (20 points), Take the Pre-Assessment Survey (20 points), and take the Blood Screening Date quiz (6 points)

Research Assignment (100 points):  Perform one (1) of the options for the research assignment, including a research paper, smoker's interview, and family tree.

Fitness Plan Assignment (100 points):  Includes the creation of three exercise plans for the following components of fitness throughout the quarter: Flexibility (30 points), Cardiorespiratory Endurance (30 points), and Resistance Training (40 points)

Research Activity Assignment (20 points): Choose between an article assignment, TV survey, and a personal trainer assignment

bullet

Nutrient Intake Assignment (100 points):  Choose between a Food Intake Log and a Self-Assessment Inventory and write a reflection on the results.

Personal Wellness Profile (100 points):  Includes three (3) portions: get your blood screened (30 points), complete a wellness profile (50 points), and conduct a reflection on the profile (20 points)

Nutrition Activity Assignment (40 points): Choose between a Food Label Activity, a Food Choices Scavenger Hunt, and a Fast Food Activity

Exercise Log Assignment (45 points): Perform activity from the following components of fitness throughout the quarter: flexibility (10 points), Cardiorespiratory Endurance (15 points), and Resistance Training (20 points)

Wellness Reflection Assignment (20 points):  Choose between a Poster, a Paper, or a Positive Thinking activity (for 10am class only)

Extra Credit (20 points maximum):  Perform an extra credit activity for up to 5 points of extra credit each.  A maximum of 20 points may be completed for extra credit.

Lab Activities (300 points)-  The Lab Activities include 20 activities that are performed in the lab portion of the class.  There are up to five (5) points awarded for participating in each lab activity and up to another ten (10) points awarded for filling out the lab sheet for the activity.  Since this is based upon attendance and participation, a student may miss a maximum of 4 lab classes.  Any student who misses 5 or more lab classes will receive a failing grade, regardless of how the student is doing in the lecture portion of the course.  Withdrawal from the course is advised in this circumstance.

Quizzes and In-class Activities (70 points)-  There will be eight (8) quizzes and/or in-class activities throughout the quarter.  These are each worth ten (10) points.  The lowest score will be thrown out so that 70 total points will come from this area.
