Assignments

These assignments reflect looking at nutrition information received in various ways.  Based on what we found out about the nutrients in the individual diet in the Nutrition Primary Assignment, these assignments take a closer look at three areas where it is important to understand how healthy our food choices are in order to better enable ourselves to make better food choices in the future. 

The six nutrients that we need to have in our diet include:

Carbohydrates- Provide energy

bullet

Proteins- Build, repair, and maintain tissue

bullet

Fats/Lipids- Provide storage of energy, cushioning/protection for organs, carry/store vitamins A, D, E, K

bullet

Vitamins- Help organs to function correctly and efficiently

bullet

Minerals- Help chemical processes to function correctly and efficiently

bullet

Water- Body is comprised of 60% water...most body processes need water to be completed

Fast Food Activity- Compare 2 meals at the same fast food restaurant

Food Choices Scavenger Hunt- Compare your regular grocery store to a health foods grocery store.
