Student Learning Outcomes:

1.      Design appropriate exercise periodization for triathlon event by applying concepts learned in class.

2.      Demonstrate ability to follow exercise plan.

 Total Points:  50

 Directions of Assignments:

This assignment will emphasize designing a personal training plan to be used for the Tri It Like a Penguin Triathlon to be performed in June 2009.  The case study information should be typed, where appropriate, and will involve the following aspects.

 1)      Training Plan form (The form needs to have the following information)

a)      Days/dates/hourly time

b)      Microcycle number (weekly #)

c)      Competition date (June 7, 2009)

d)      Swimming training time of day, days of week, distances/duration of swim bout, intensity level

e)       Cycling training time of day, days of week, distances/duration of cycling bout, intensity level

f)      Running time of day, days of week, distances/duration of run bout, intensity level

g)   Strength Training exercises: time of day, days of week, sets/reps, weight/load


 

2)      Nutritional Status

a)      Discuss personal diet currently

b)      Discuss the needs for training

 

3)      Miscellaneous Information

a)      Discuss the equipment needed for training

b)      Discuss the attire needed for training

 

  To be submitted for the assignment:

a)      A completed Training Plan form.

b)      Nutritional status information

c)   Miscellaneous information

c)       Typed paper regarding equipment needs for training, equipment needs for event day, as well as miscellaneous training and race-day information

e)      Bibliography with reliable sources, including why you used those sources
