Math 106 Spring 2008 Term

Announcements

6/12/08 Here's the take home quiz.

6/10/08 Unfortunately I can't make it to class today due to illness. I should be well enough tomorrow to run the test as planned.

Topics covered will be
6.1, 6.2, 6.5, 7.1,
7.2 (producers and consumers surplus)
8.1 and 8.2 (just the parts covered monday)
Harder questions from 8.2 will be extra credit.

Here's more details on topics we covered in 8.1 and 8.2.

From 8.1 we covered the idea of a function of several variables and how to plug in values (questions 1-23 I think - I don't have the book on me). I showed lots of 3-d graphs in class that I did with MAPLE, but you don't have to do these!

From 8.2 we covered the idea of a partial derivative and simple examples (up to question 13 or so). The higher numbered questions will be extra credit (the ones using the product rule).

Here's some lecture notes covering the ideas from chapter 8 so far, and some more examples.

5/15/08 See the homework posted below. Also I corrected an error in Q6 part (b). Solutions reposted below.

4/25/08 As promised, a handout showing algebra from calculus below in lecture notes. Also, the homework for the next few weeks from chapters 3 and 4 which I handed out in class.

4/8/08 Welcome!

4/8/08 Homework for the early part of the book is posted below. Note that there's a self test at the beginning that you can use if you're not sure what sections to work on. For now, work on a selection from sections A-1 to A-6, focusing on weak areas.
