In this class, we will discuss problems, methods, procedures, and human relations as they relate to on-the-job work experience in business. This class is taken only with concurrent enrollment in BTEC 199 (Cooperative Work Experience). In order to register for the seminar and co-op each term, you will need a course entry code granting you permission to register. Please see Mary Evens (in SHL 206) or e-mail mevens@clark.edu to obtain the code and/or more information regarding these courses.
The seminar course is two (2) credits each term. The co-op course can be
anywhere between 1 and 3 credits each term, depending on the requirements in
your program of study. To ease the process of completing the requirements for
the co-op course, you need to obtain a position as early as possible during this
term. For each credit that you register (1-3 credits each term), you will need
to complete a total of 30 hours of co-op work experience during the term.
Although you are responsible for obtaining a position, we can help make this
task easier. Please call 992-2902 to arrange an appointment with Suzanne Thayer
to look at jobs available in our employment center and/or get assistance with your current résumé and application for a position.
We’d like you to do this, if possible, prior to our first seminar course meeting
each term. It does take time to arrange interviews and get set up in a position,
and our goal is to have everyone in a position by the end of the second week if at all
possible.
If you already have a job that you believe may qualify for co-op, please let
Mary Evens know so we can make a determination as to its suitability.
