Early Childhood Education Teacher Assistant

Do you like to work with children? If so, this training will allow you to gain experience working with young children in a learning center. You will teach children how to get along with others by creating environments rich in discovery. You will also strengthen your understanding of child development and see how you can make a difference in young lives.

 

Participants will:

  • Earn a 20-hour Basic Child Care Center STARS certificate
  • Complete HIV/Aids Blood Borne Pathogens Training
  • Gain First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Obtain a Food Handlers permit
  • Develop and strengthen self-confidence through expanding basic skills, gaining computer knowledge and increasing professional skills

Eligibility requirements: Training opportunities are open to WorkFirst TANF participants. Qualifying low income, non-TANF parents participate only on space available basis.

Forklift Training

This five-day training prepares participants for employment in warehouse environments and other businesses that use forklifts in their daily operations.

 

Participants will:

  • Complete forklift training and certification program
  • Build knowledge of career opportunities related to forklift operation
  • Learn what employers are looking for in their employees
  • Tour a local warehouse facility
  • Gain CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Identify personal and professional skills
  • Strengthen communication and teamwork skills
  • Practice interview techniques and begin job search

Eligibility requirements: Training opportunities are open to WorkFirst TANF participants. Qualifying low income, non-TANF parents participate only on space available basis.

Individualized Training

Are you close to finishing your degree or certificate program, but still need that last quarter’s worth of coursework to finish and enter the workforce? Do you have a combination of work experience and education but need more skills to get ahead on the job? If prospective employers are asking you for additional knowledge and skills that you don’t have, we can help. Individualized Training will provide you with the training you need and improve your employment opportunities.

 

Participants will:

  • Submit a training plan proposal for review
  • Enroll in Clark College classes upon approval
  • Maintain 32 hours per week participation
  • Potential volunteer work experience in field of study or future employment
  • Actively seek employment after graduation

Eligibility requirements: Training opportunities are open to WorkFirst TANF participants only.

Landscape Industries Training

The next time you’re out on the town, take a look at the landscaping around you. Have you ever wondered who is behind making the plants and trees look so nice? If you love the outdoors and are interested in work that is physically satisfying, then this training opportunity is for you. Working with local employers in the real outdoors, in the classroom and in the computer lab will help you become qualified for year-round employment.

 

Participants will:

  • Learn landscaping skills required by employers
  • Prepare for and complete the examination for Washington Department of Agriculture licensing in Laws and Safety and Turf and Weed Control
  • Gain First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Be qualified for jobs with starting pay higher than minimum wage

Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC)

Do you enjoy helping others? Would you like the satisfaction of assisting others with their daily living needs? If so, now is your chance to join the healthcare industry. Gain hands-on experience at healthcare facilities and pass an exam for certification, then you will be qualified for jobs with starting pay higher than minimum wage. You will be on your way to a healthcare career.

 

Participants will:

  • Complete the NAC state required training, consisting of classroom instruction and supervised clinical work at a healthcare facility
  • Obtain First Aid/ CPR certification
  • Gain Food Handler’s permit
  • Develop and strengthen self-confidence through expanding basic skills, gaining computer knowledge and increasing professional skills

Eligibility requirements: Training opportunities are open to WorkFirst TANF participants only.
