Corporate/Continuing Education Classes

How do I know if a class is full?
When you register for a class, the registration person will be able to tell you whether or not it is full. You may also call us Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., to find out if a particular class is still open. If the class is full, we can place your name on a waiting list. People sometimes cancel before the start date of a class and we are able to enroll those on the waitlist.

Do you offer a "senior discount" or scholarships for classes?

No. Because our program is self-supporting and does not receive state funds, we are not able to offer senior discounts or scholarships.

I'm not sure I'll be able to take a class. Can I just show up?
You must register before the class starts to be enrolled. If you simply show-up, and the class is full, you will not be allowed to participate. More importantly, if you do not register in advance, we may be forced to cancel a class due to low enrollment and your registration may have been the one that allowed the class to run.

If I am on a waiting list for a class, can I show-up to the class and see if there is room?
If space becomes available in a class, people on the waitlist will be called in the order their names were taken. If you are not contacted by us before the class begins, there are no open spaces.

What is the minimum number of students required for a class to run?
Minimum enrollment varies from class to class. We make every effort to plan classes so they can run even with a small number of students. It is important, however, that you not wait until the last minute to register – we recommend registering at least two weeks in advance of the class start date. Classes with low enrollment may be cancelled and your registration could be the one that allows the class to run.

Registration

Can I pay my registration when I show up for class?
Instructors are not permitted to collect registration or any other fees. You must register and pay before the class begins.

Why do you ask for my birth date?
In 2003, the State of Washington passed new privacy laws prohibiting State institutions from collecting social security numbers as a primary identification number. While this was a positive change in terms of privacy protection, it makes it difficult for us to identify students. By asking for your birth date, we are able to identify you more easily and make sure we are registering the right person! Supplying your date of birth is optional.

I'm worried about my personal information. Do you sell or distribute information about your students?
State law prevents us from sharing your information with any organization outside the College. We are required to limit our access to student data as much as possible.

Why do you need the verification number on my credit card?
The verification or V-number is an additional security measure used to protect your credit card. The number appears only on the back of the card and is not displayed on statements, credit card receipts or other documentation. Unless the card has been stolen, proper identification of the V-number confirms for the credit card company the customer has possession of the card and has not obtained the account number through illicit means.

How do I cancel my registration for a class?
Use the following guidelines:

  • Full refunds will be issued to all participants if Corporate/Continuing Education cancels a class due to low enrollment.
  • To cancel a registration, please contact Continuing Education registration at least seven (7) business days prior to the class. You will be issued a full refund for the class fee, but CEU fees are not refundable, unless the class is canceled.
  • NO REFUNDS will be given for a class once it has started. Refunds based on special circumstances must be requested in writing and are not guaranteed.

To cancel your registration, please call us at (360) 992-2939.

How do waiting lists work?
A waiting list is begun for any class that reaches maximum capacity. If space in the class becomes available, we will contact people on the waiting list in the order their names were taken.

If I am on a waiting list, should I come to class to see if the instructor will let me in?
No. Instructors are allowed to admit into class only those students whose names appear on the roster. Please do not attend class unless you have received a confirmation call from us.

Can I just sit in on a class with my friend or partner?
We do not permit students to bring friends or partners to class unless they have also registered.

What is the last day I can register for a class?
Although you can register up to the start day of the class, we recommend you register at least two weeks before the first class. Many of our classes include textbooks that must be ordered in advance. In addition, your registration could be the one that allows us to meet minimum enrollment and run the class.
